Welcome to Small Blue Planet. There's nothing to install, but it will run considerably faster if you drag the Small Blue Planet application onto your hard disk.
It will run faster still if you give it a big memory partition. More is better. If you have lots of RAM, select the Small Blue Planet application, select "Get Info" from the File menu, and give it 10,000K or more.
Finally, you can speed up the Gallery, the annotation and the Almanac if you drag the 3 files in the Auxiliary folder into the same folder on your hard disk that you put Small Blue Planet in.
Most of our files are in the Images folder; you won't need to directly access those. The Document folder has interesting papers describing the USA Relief Map and the Italy Relief Map from USGS, and some Quicktime movies of the Earth from Peter Sloss of NOAA.
